If you’ve ever struggled with backbends or experienced discomfort while practicing them, then this weekend’s workshop, Heart Opening Backbends with Sabrina Lekaj, is tailor-made for you.
Backbends are not just yoga poses; they are gateways to profound physical and emotional growth. However, to unlock their full potential, it’s crucial to learn the correct techniques and gain a deep understanding of your body’s mechanics.
Sabrina will be your guide, sharing her expertise to ensure that you perform backbends safely and effectively. A former gymnast, backbends hold a special place in her heart, making her the ideal facilitator for this workshop.
What to Expect
During this workshop, you’ll discover the secrets of deep backbends without compromising the health of your spine. Sabrina will delve into the physical anatomy of backbends, emphasizing the importance of pelvis movement to alleviate lower back stress. You’ll learn how to flex and strengthen the entire backside of your body while allowing the front to stretch and expand, paving the way for graceful, heart-opening backbends.
Moreover, Sabrina will explore the energetic anatomy of yoga, introducing you to the Yin (feminine, moon, peace, water energy) and Yang (masculine, sun, active, fire energy) structures within the body. She will also shed light on the different meridians, or energy pathways, present in the front and back sides of the body. With this knowledge, you’ll learn how to harness these energies during your backbends and forward folds, enhancing your practice and personal growth.
There are still a few openings left in this workshop. Please note that “Heart Opening Backbends” is not recommended for individuals with spinal stenosis or spondylolisthesis. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we want everyone to enjoy the practice without risking harm.
