November is men’s health awareness month. Also known as Movember, it’s a time when groups hold events and people grow mustaches to put a spotlight on issues that are claiming the lives of the men in our lives too soon.
On average, our sons, brothers, husbands, fathers and partners die 4.5 years earlier than women — and for largely preventable reasons.
A Men’s Mental & Physical Health Crisis
Globally, around 10.8 million men are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis; testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men; and one man dies by suicide every minute, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides.
Moreover, our culture expects men to stay quiet about our struggles. Men who seek help are seen as weak. Those who show vulnerability are seen as unmanly. These pressures contribute to a suffocating silence around men’s health.
Warriors For Peace
For Movember, we are partnering with lululemon for a special event called “Warriors For Peace: Men’s Sacred Healing Space.”
Led by energy healer Julius Betila, we aim to break the silence around men’s health, creating space for men to come together and engage in open, honest discussions about the pressures and challenges we are facing. Julius will also offer valuable tools to manage stress, find balance, and bring more joy into our lives.
The truth is, men are dying too young. We can’t afford to stay silent. It’s time to speak up.
If you could use a little support and brotherhood, please sign up for this important event. If you know someone who could benefit from something like this, please let them know about it.
Let’s come together to create a new paradigm where men can embrace their health and live their lives in an authentic way.
