For thousands of years, yogis have used mantra, chanting, breath, and music to quiet mental chatter, open the heart, and restore inner balance. Today, modern research is beginning to confirm what these ancient practitioners long understood: vocal toning, chanting, and intentional breath may help stimulate the vagus nerve, support healthy stress regulation, and activate the body’s natural relaxation response. Group singing has even been shown to synchronize breathing and heart rhythms, creating a measurable sense of connection and calm.
