THE PRACTICE

dharma yoga

a complete practice

Sri Dharma Mittra demonstrates a yoga pose

Created by legendary yoga master Sri Dharma Mittra in 1975, Dharma Yoga is classical yoga interpreted for modern times.

Dharma Yoga classes incorporate a flowing Vinyasa, inversions, as well as poses held for longer periods of time.  Breathing exercises, deep healing relaxation, chanting and meditation round out each class.

Following yoga’s ethical rules — the Yamas and Niyamas — is a central tenet of Dharma Yoga.  As a result, the practice emphasizes compassion and devotion.

Dharma Yoga is considered a complete practice because it promotes good health, a clear mind and a kind heart.

Sri Dharma Mittra

Sri Dharma Mittra has been practicing, teaching and innovating yoga for over half a century.  He is one of the first independent yoga teachers on the East Coast.

Sri Dharma created the yoga wheel, as well as the master chart of 908 yoga poses displayed in yoga studios and ashrams around the world.

Many Living Yoga teachers have trained and practiced with Sri Dharma directly.  We are proud to be the first and only Dharma Yoga affiliate in Queens.
